Monti says Italy seeks 'quick solution' to marines issue

Rome, March 27 - Italy is looking for a "quick solution" to its problem of two marines facing homicide charges in India, outgoing Premier Mario Monti said Wednesday. With the return of the two marines, who face charges of killing two Indian fishermen a year ago, a political dialogue has been reopened between the two countries that should lead to a solution, Monti told parliament. He spoke one day after Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi quit amid criticism over the government's decision to return the two marines to India. "I would like to emphasize that in the last few days we have initiated a political dialogue,(opening) a path to a quick fix," Monti said.
