Soccer: Italy flight to Geneva hit by lightning

(see related story) Geneva, March 20 - The Italian national soccer team got a nasty shock when the aeroplane that was taking them to Geneva on Wednesday was struck by lightning shortly before landing. There were moments of fear aboard the charter flight after the passengers felt the impact and saw an intense flash of light but no one was hurt. The plane remained steady and the crew soon managed to calm everyone down, although they did not explain what had happened until after landing. "There was a lightning bolt but everything was under control," said pilot Roberto Andolfato. The Azzurri travelled to Geneva for Thursday's friendly against Brazil.
