Vatican City, March 19 - The religious part of Pope Francis's inauguration mass started on Tuesday when the new pope prayed before St. Peter's tomb in St Peter's Basilica. The Piscatory ring of the papal office was waiting for Francis after this. Francis, formerly Jorge Mario Bergoglio, chose a model of Piscatory ring made of gold-plated silver designed by the late Enrico Manfrini, who died in 2004. The Piscatory ring, or Ring of the Fisherman, is typically cast in gold for each pope. The fact that Francis chose to have a silver ring has been seen by many as a sign that he is aiming to be a "pope of the poor". The ring depicts St. Peter fishing from the side of a boat. It served as the official signet to seal papal documents until 1842.
