English lecturer suspended from University of Pavia

Pavia, March 5 - An English lecturer was suspended from his teaching duties at the University of Pavia on Tuesday after students reported he showed up in class drunk. Among other things, Anthony Baldry had been accused by students at this university town some 30 km south of Milan of having used vulgar language and having assumed behavior considered inappropriate of a university teacher. He was also accused of having forced students to buy his books otherwise face exclusion from class and exams. In a note distributed earlier Tuesday, the university's academic senate said Baldry had been dismissed from duties.
