Italian actor Verdone may testify in Sordi sister scam case

Rome, March 1 - Italian comedic actor and director Carlo Verdone may be called to testify in a scam case linked to Aurelia Sordi, the 95-year-old sister of the late Italian movie star Alberto Sordi, who is thought to be a victim. Known for films such as Un Sacco Bello (1980), Bianco, Rosso e Verdone (1981), and Posti in Piedi in Paradiso (2012), Verdone is a longtime acquaintance of Sordi's and prosecutors hope he can provide useful information. The nature of the matter remains private, but Sordi is believed to have been the victim of exploitation and she has already been questioned. Alberto Sordi, an icon of Italian cinema, was famous for comedy and light drama. He first made his name dubbing the voice of Oliver Hardy in Laurel and Hardy shorts. His name appeared on more than 150 titles over a career that lasted six decades. The Roman actor died shortly before his 83rd birthday in 2003. His funeral was attended by a crowd of more than a million people.
