Milan, February 27 - Veteran former Norway striker John Carew has failed a two-day medical and will not be joining Inter Milan, the Serie A club said Wednesday. Inter had been set to offer the 33-year-old Norwegian giant a contract as a free agent until the end of the season. "It's a great opportunity," the centre-forward said Tuesday. Inter got in touch with Carew after they recently lost Argentinian striker Diego Milito to a season- and perhaps career-ending injury. Powerful in the air but also an unusually sharp ball player for such a tall man - 1.97 m (6 ft 5 1⁄2 in) - the half-Ghanaian Carew scored 24 goals for Norway between 1998 and 2011. His former clubs include Valencia, Roma, Besiktas, Lyon, Aston Villa, Stoke City and, last season in the English second tier, West Ham. Inter are fifth in Serie A, 14 points behind leaders Juventus.
