Centre left pulls ahead in Lazio governor's race

Rome, February 25 - The centre left's Nicola Zingaretti was outstripping his rivals in the Lazio governor's race, with 52-54% of the vote, a first exit poll by the Piepoli Institute and public broadcaster RAI found on Monday. Home to Italy's capital Rome, Lazio saw center-right candidate Francesco Storace running a distant second with 28-30%, while centrist Giulia Buongiorno was garnering 7-9%. In Lombardy, the region of Milan, the Piepoli-RAI exit poll found centre-left and centre-right governor candidates running neck and neck. The centre-left's Umberto Ambrosoli and centre-right's Roberto Maroni had taken 42-44% of the vote each, while the centre candidate Gabriele Albertini had garnered an estimated 6-8%. In the southern region of Molise, Piepoli-RAI saw the centre-left candidate Paolo Frattura ahead with 47-49% of vote. The centre right's Michele Iorio had pulled in 26-28%, while the anti-establishment Five Star Movement's Antonio Federico saw 15-17%.
