Rome, February 22 - Italian liability auto-insurance premiums have the highest and one of the fastest-growing costs compared to premiums found in Europe's main countries, according to figures released from an Italian antitrust authority investigation on Friday. The average premium in Italy is more than twice that of France and Portugal, 80% more than Germany, and nearly 70% more than Holland. Price growth for auto insurance from 2006-2010 was nearly twice that of the eurozone as a whole, and nearly three times that of France. The cost and frequency of accidents in Italy is also among the highest for the main European countries. Accidents occur in Italy with almost double the frequency as France or Holland, and exceeds Germany by 30%.
