Rome, February 18 - A blaze on Monday morning at a detention center for immigrants on the outskirts of Rome was subdued by firefighters and police who were called to contain a 'revolt'. Police said that immigrants being held at the Ponte Galeria center for the identification and expulsion of illegal immigrants lit mattresses and furniture on fire and some climbed onto the roof. Immigrant detention centers in Italy known as CIEs have drawn fire from human rights groups for overcrowding and prison-like conditions.
