Rome mayor not probed in kickback investigation

Rome, January 28 - Rome Mayor Gianni Alemanno is not being probed as part of an investigation into alleged kickbacks, prosecutors in the Italian capital said on Monday. At the weekend Alemanno was linked in media reports to a probe into an alleged 600,000-euro bribe paid to win a contract to supply 42 new buses to the city. The prosecutors said six people, including businessmen and the former chief of a municipal agency, were under investigation.
