Italian police bust 'Ndrangheta's international slots racket

Rome, January 23 - Italian police on Wednesday cracked down on an 'Ndrangheta mafia racket of rigged video-slot machines spread out over Italy and elsewhere in Europe. With arrest warrants for 29 suspects, police raided 150 locations, seized 90 million euros in assets and apprehended the alleged boss of the group based in Ravenna, northern Italy. The slot-machine scam was linked to towns in virtually every region in Italy, as well as Romania and Britain. The head of the ring had a rap sheet that included international drug and arms trafficking. The raid was one of a number of 'Ndrangheta crackdowns on Wednesday.
