Tennis: Errani, Vinci reach Australian Open doubles final

Rome, January 23 - Italians Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci reached the final of the Australian Open doubles tournament on Wednesday when they cruised past Russians Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina 6-2 6-4. It will be the fourth final in the last five grand slams for Errani and Vinci, the world's top-ranked women's doubles pairing. They came from a set down to beat the formidable pairing of American sisters Venus and Serena Williams in the quarter-finals. The Italians also reached the final of the Australian Open doubles last year, when they were beaten by Russians Svetlana Kuznetsova and Vera Zvonareva. They made up for it by winning the French and US Open titles. In the men's doubles, Italians Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini are in the semi-finals.
