ILVA steelworks executive arrested in London

Rome, January 22 - Fabio Riva, an executive of the ILVA steel plant in Taranto at the center of an environmental dispute between local prosecutors and the Italian government, was arrested in London on Tuesday after two months on the run. Taranto prosecutors issued a European arrest warrant for Riva on December 10 saying that he was sought as part of a criminal probe into the environmental scandal at the facility. Several other top managers at ILVA have been arrested as part of the investigations. After the news of Riva's arrest, Pierfelice Zazzera, an MP from the Puglia region around Taranto, said that he should be extradited to Italy to face trial.
