Police bust puppy traffickers in northern Italy

Turin, January 22 - Italian finance police busted a ring of illegal puppy traffickers on Tuesday shipping dogs from Hungary and Slovakia to be sold in shops in the northern city of Turin. Two men were cited and 24 dogs without vaccinations or proper documentation were confiscated in 'Operation Snoopy'. The dog breeds included small varieties popular in Italy such as bichon frizes, bulldogs, pugs, king cavaliers, maltese, chihuahuas and west highlands, all younger than the acceptable age limit for import into Italian territory.
