'Consumer spending down to 15-year low'

Rome, January 22 - Italy's recession saw 100,000 companies go bust between 2011 and 2012 without being replaced by new ones, a study said Tuesday. Per capita spending will be the lowest in 15 years this year after falling 4.4% in 2012 and a forecast 1.4% in 2013, said Rete Imprese Italia, a business group. Every Italian will spend 15,695 euros this year compared to 15,753 in 1998, it said.
