Rome, January 15 - The film industry in recession-hit Italy saw a drop in admissions and revenue in 2012 according to data provided by statistics agency Cinetel and presented Tuesday. Ticket sales were down 10% over 2011 while box office takings fell by 8% over the same period. However admissions in the last five months of the year were up 3.2% over the same period in 2011, raising hopes of a possible recovery. The market share taken by Italian films and co-productions stood at 26.5% in 2012, compared to 37.6% the year before. Possible solutions to the downturn include providing incentives for cinema attendance in the summer months and introducing 3 euro tickets in the first half of May, sector organisations said.
