MotoGP: Dovizioso aims high after replacing Rossi at Ducati

Madonna di Campiglio, January 15 - Italian Andrea Dovizioso said Tuesday that he is aiming to win the MotoGP title within two years after taking his compatriot Valentino Rossi's place at Ducati. Nine-time world champion Rossi, 33, ended a winless two-year stint with Ducati last season to return to his former team Yamaha. "I have a long-term plan," Dovizioso told reporters at the pre-season Wrooom media event Ducati holds every year with Ferrari at the Alpine resort of Madonna di Campiglio. "At the start of the next two years I won't look at the results too much but I hope to do well enough to become world champion with Ducati," added the 27-year-old, who moved from the Honda factory team. "Replacing Valentino Rossi is undoubtedly a big job, but he and Ducati didn't do very well together. "So taking his place today is not as much of a problem as it might have been in the past. "In the past he won a lot, so whichever rider would have taken his place (before) would have been in a difficult position. But now this is not an issue".
