Italy suspends activity at Benghazi consulate after attack

Rome, January 15 - Italy has suspended activity at its consulate in Benghazi for safety reasons, the foreign ministry said on Tuesday, after gunmen fired at the car of Consul General Guido de Sanctis in the Eastern Libyan city on Saturday. The attack was the latest in a series targeting foreign missions in the country's second biggest city. No one was injured in it. Four Americans, including United States Ambassador Christopher Stevens, were killed in an attack on the U.S. consulate in the city on September 11, 2012.
