Soccer: Abete re-elected head of Italian Soccer Federation

Rome, January 14 - Giancarlo Abete was re-elected president of the Italian Soccer Federation (FIGC) on Monday, winning 94.34% of the votes at a federation assembly after standing unchallenged. Abete has been at the helm of the FIGC since 2007, when Italian soccer was still recovering from the Calciopoli match-fixing scandal that saw Juventus relegated to Serie B and stripped of two Serie A titles the year before.
