Assets worth 90 million euros seized in Camorra operation

Naples, January 14 - Assets worth 90 million euros were seized in central and southern Italy on Monday in one of the largest operations ever against the Naples-based Camorra mafia. Naples' anti-mafia investigators took control businesses and equipment, 26 properties, 28 areas of land, 114 bank and investment accounts, and 19 vehicles, including three Ferraris - all in Naples' home region, Campania, or in Rome's region, Lazio, to the north. The operation was the result of probes into the activities of the Casalesi clan, whose death threats have forced anti-mafia writer Roberto Saviano into 24-hour police protection.
