Fugitive Naples drug lord caught

Naples, January 4 - Italian police on Friday arrested a fugitive clan leader of the Naples Camorra mafia involved in a turf war for drug-trafficking in the notorious Scampia district of the southern Italian city. Antonio Mennetta, 28, on the run from murder charges since September, is believed to be the head of the powerful Girati clan, police said. He was arrested in a villa protected by sophisticated surveillance systems, police said. Police have been looking for the five Camorra kingpins waging war over drug turf in Scampia, an open-air drug market, since a public outcry in October when a 30-year-old factory worker, Pasquale Romano, was gunned down after being mistaken for a Camorrista. Three of them have now been caught and two remain at large.
