Rome, January 2 - The spread between 10-year Italian bonds and their German benchmark opened in 2013 on Wednesday at 305.6 points and continued to drop resting below 300 points at 299.4. The yield is 4.40%. Considered a barometer of Italy's borrowing costs in the eurozone crisis, the spread is down from Monday's 2012 closing at 318. A year ago, the spread was 525 points and 10-year yields were at about 7%.
