Pope celebrates St. Stephen's day during Angelus reflection

Vatican City, December 26 - Pope Benedict XVI said during his Angelus reflections on Wednesday that on St. Stephen's Day "we are called to fix our gaze on the son of God" whose message did not only depend on technology to be heard, but "in being filled with the Holy Spirit". St. Stephen, celebrated on December 26, is considered the first martyr of the Catholic church and was stoned to death in 34 AD for being outspoken. "Like him, may we be blessed by God's grace to have the courage to speak up and to defend the truth of our faith in public, with charity and constancy," Benedict said.
