Italian prosecutors hope to find kidnapped businessman alive

Genoa, December 21 - Italian investigators said Friday that they hoped to find 31-year-old construction businessman Andrea Calevo, who was kidnapped last weekend, alive and urged his family not to give up hope. ''It is possible that Andrea Calevo is still alive. We are looking for him everywhere, the geographical area is very large,'' said Genoa Chief Prosecutor Michele Di Lecce, who is coordinating the investigation. ''His family must continue to hope for the best after five days''. Calevo was kidnapped in Lerici, northern Italy, following a break-in at his home. Investigators are reported to be examining Calevo's economic and financial situation and aspects of his personal life. They have also examined his Audi A3, which was found dumped in a river near La Spezia on Monday. There has reportedly been no request for a ransom. Calevo's firm, founded by his grandfather, is well known in the region and produces prefabricated building materials.
