Managers cleared of privacy violation

Milan appeals court acquits 3 Google managers

Milan, December 21 - A Milan appeals court on Friday acquitted three Google managers convicted of privacy violation due to a video showing a handicapped student insulted and harassed by schoolmates. The case made international headlines when the managers were handed a six-month prison sentence in February 2010. The controversial ruling was slammed by the U.S. ambassador to Rome and by the U.S. press for censoring freedom on the Internet. The video, which showed the victimization of an underaged, handicapped student of a Turin high school, was posted on Google videos in September 2006 and remained accessible for about two months.
