Skolkovo, Russia - Foreign Affairs Minister Giulio Terzi says that he "really hopes" that two Italian marines held in India will be home for Christmas. Terzi spoke Monday after meetings near Moscow. He added that he has "solid confidence" that the issue will be resolved quickly. Last week, Italy officially asked India's Supreme Court to issue its verdict by Christmas on a case concerning the two anti-pirate marines being tried for allegedly killing two local fishermen. Marines Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone have been at the centre of a diplomatic row between Italy and India since they were detained in February for charges that include homicide. The Italian government believes that the marines should be exempt from prosecution in India as they were military personnel working on an anti-piracy mission. They were granted bail in June, but must remain in Indian territory.
