Soccer: Lucio rescinds contract with Juventus

Turin, December 17 - Former Brazil defender Lucio has rescinded his contract with Juventus, the Serie A champions said on Monday. The 34-year-old has played only four times for the Turin club since joining them in the close season as a free agent after terminating his contract with Inter Milan. "Lucio's adventure in the black-and-white stripes has come to an end," Juventus, who are seven points clear at the top of Serie A after beating Atalanta 3-0 on Sunday, said in a statement. "Juventus and the Brazilian defender have reached an agreement for the player's contract to be terminated by mutual consent". Lucio, who won the 2002 World Cup with Brazil, was a key part of the Inter side that claimed an unprecedented Champions League-Serie A-Italian Cup treble in 2010.
