Florence, December 14 - Residents of Florence's Montedomini nursing home will be celebrating Christmas with a gourmet lunch, prepared and served by the Enoteca Pinchiorri, the restaurant perennially awarded three stars by the Michelin Guide. Pinchiorri's chef Annie Feolde, the first woman in Italy to be tapped 'stellar' by Michelin and co-owner Giorgio Pinchiorri will be serving "a refined and generous menu," Florence Mayor Matteo Renzi said on Friday at a conference announcing the initiative. The meal includes braised sea scallops on a bed of creamy chickpeas and crispy bacon and a hazelnut cream with passion fruit sorbet and chocolate. Four wines will be served, starting with a Rose' Champagne from Bruno Paillard and finishing with a 2007 Sauterne from Chateau Suduiraut. "Florentines are top of the list for taking action and giving the best of themselves," Marco Seracini, president of Montedomini nursing home, said. "This generous act is first and foremost a recognition of human dignity, especially of those in their weakest state".
