Lamezia Terme, November 14 - Pier Luigi Bersani, a senior member of the leftwing MDP party, said Tuesday that ex-premier Matteo Renzi's Democratic Party (PD) must make proposals if it wants to move ahead on talks for an alliance ahead of a general election early next year. The centre left is in disarray after its poor showing in this month's regional elections in Sicily. "If they won't to talk to us they must know that they should come with proposals that someone like me and many others can speak to people about," said Bersani, a former PD leader who was part of a group that split earlier this year due to hostility to Renzi's leadership. "I cannot go out and tell young people that the (Renzi government) Jobs Act (labour reform) worked. "I cannot go and tell teachers that the Good School (education reform) went well". Renzi made overtures to leftwing parties at a crunch PD meeting on Monday.
