'Discreet oversight' in Ostia polling stations–Minniti (2)

Rome, November 14 - There will be a "discreet oversight" in polling stations during the run-off municipal election in Ostia on Sunday, Interior Minister Marco Minniti said during a meeting of Rome's provincial public order and security committee on Tuesday. The committee decided that plain-clothes policemen will be present in the 183 polling stations in Ostia. "An oversight that must respect voters' freedom to decide and ensure that there is no conditioning," Minniti added. The committee met to review security procedures for the vote in the light of recent "serious episodes" including an attack on a RAI TV crew probing suspected links between the town's Spada crime family and the Fascist CasaPound group. The run-off is between representatives of the centre right and the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement.
