Confindustria chief rebuts Berlusconi on Italian spread

Rome, December 11 - The head of Italy's powerful industrial employers' confederation Confindustria on Tuesday rebutted ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi's assertion that the bond spread is a "con" that does not matter. "We are in the field of personal opinions," Confindustria chief Giorgio Squinzi said when asked about Berlusconi's comments. "The spread is important because it has a direct impact on the cost of our public debt".
