Centrists blast 'irresponsible games' of Berlusconi's party

Rome, December 7 - Pier Ferdinando Casini, the leader of the centrist UDC party, on Friday blasted Silvio Berlusconi's People of Freedom (PdL) party for pulling its support from Premier Mario Monti's government. Casini said the PdL was "playing irresponsible games on the backs of the Italian people" after the secretary of Berlusconi's party, Angelino Alfano, said it considered Monti's emergency technocrat administration finished. The UDC has helped provide Monti's government with the support it needs in parliament, along with the much bigger PdL and the centre-left Democratic Party (PD), since it took office a year ago.
