Financial police raid Liguria govt offices

Geneva, December 5 - The Italian financial police entered the office of the Ligurian regional assembly chief on Wednesday to probe spending on political groups. Police said they were probing suspected embezzlement. The audit is one of a series launched by the financial police in recent months in various regions. The police checks come in the wake of corruption scandals this year that have led to the early ouster of regional governors in Lazio and Lombardy.
