Vatican City, December 4 - Pope Benedict XVI was logging followers on his new personal Twitter account at breakneck speed on Tuesday, with over half a million subscribers registered in the first 24 hours. The majority - 350,000 - had logged onto the principal English account, while 35,000 people were set to follow the pontiff in Italian. Pope Benedict XVI is to launch his inaugural tweet on December 12 for the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Vatican said on Monday. The account will be in eight languages: English, Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Polish, German and Arabic. The English account is @pontifex.
