Rome, November 29 - Business confidence in recession-hit Italy this month dropped back to the level of the three-year low registered in September, Istat said on Thursday. The national statistics agency said its business-confidence index fell from 77.1 points last month to 76.4 points in November, the same as in September. Apart from September, the last time it was lower was in March 2009, when the index plunged to an all-time low. Istat said the fall was due to pessimism among entrepreneurs in the services and construction sectors. Businesses working in industry and retail showed some improvement, possibly due to the onset of the Christmas festive season.
