'Ancora Qui' composed specially for Django Unchained soundtrack

Original Morricone song featured in new Tarantino western

Rome, November 29 - Quentin Tarantino's upcoming western Django Unchained will feature an original song by iconic Italian film composer Ennio Morricone. Ancora Qui (Still Here) was composed by Morricone with lyrics written and performed by Italian singer-songwriter Elisa. The song was produced by the Milan-based Sugar label, known for stars such as Andrea Bocelli. Django Unchained, scheduled for release at Christmas in North America and January 17 in Italy, stars Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz and Kerry Washington. The film, which follows a freed slave and a bounty hunter in their trek across the Deep South, was inspired by the 1966 Sergio Corbucci spaghetti western Django. Its reputation as one of the most violent films in history up until that point is said to have caught the eye of Tarantino, known for such bloody thrillers as Kill Bill and Inglorious Basterds - both of which featured Morricone songs that first appeared in westerns by Italian great Sergio Leone, one of Tarantino's idols.
