Cosenza, November 29 - Italian police on Thursday seized two million euros in assets from a suspected member of the Calabrian 'Ndrangheta mafia including hotels, restaurants and pizzerias in Calabria and near Rimini. Police said Agostino Briguori, 42, was a member of the top Muto clan. Briguori's stakes in several companies were frozen while a number of expensive cars were impounded. 'Ndrangheta is Italy's richest mafia thanks to its control of the European cocaine trade. Several recent probes have shown its penetration of the northern Italian economy. A regional councillor in Lombardy for ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi's People of Freedom (PdL) party was arrested last month for allegedly buying votes from 'Ndrangheta members.
