Man arrested for impersonating French entrepreneur in Italy

Reggio Emilia, November 26 - Italian police on Monday arrested an illegal immigrant from Algeria accused of falsifying his identity to repeatedly swindle chic Italian hotels and restaurants, as well as rob fellow hotel guests. Posing as a wealthy French entrepreneur on a business trip, the 40-year-old went from one luxury hotel and restaurant to another, enjoying the high life while leaving a trail of unpaid bills and entering other guests' bedrooms to steal money and jewelry, police said. The alleged imposter struck repeatedly in Lombardy, but remained untraceable thanks to his use of a false identification document.
