'State of war' against tax dodgers says Monti

Milan, November 26 - Italian Premier Mario Monti on Monday said his government was in a "state of war" against tax dodgers. "It is not possible to have social peace, peace among citizens and between citizens and the State without a tough fight against this phenomenon," said the premier, whose emergency technocrat government has tried to up the pressure on Italy's many tax evaders. Monti also said the government that emerges from elections in March should be "convincing" on the European stage.
