Trade union warns of 'social bomb' due to contracts ending

Rome, November 22 - Italian trade unions warned of a ''social bomb'' that could explode as early as December 31 when some 230,000 public workers' temporary contracts start ending, according to comments made on Thursday by the letf-wing CGIL trade union, Italy's largest. ''(There is) an army of 230,000 workers with temporary contracts'', the trade union said. ''This bomb needs to be deactivated by government emergency measures seeking to delay the ending of these contracts''. photo: CGIL leader Susanna Camusso
