Rome, November 20 - A Canadian winery on Tuesday won a top award at the 20th annual wine competition organized by Italian trade fair Vinitaly. The judges at the Concorso Enologico, which took place November 12-16, assigned the highest honor, the special ''Gran Vinitaly 2012'' award, to Canada's Magnotta Winery Corporation. The special ''Vinitaly Nazione 2012'' award, assigned on a nationalty basis, went to Badel 1862, from Croatia, Olearia Vinicola Orsogna, from Italy, and Varga Pinceszet Badacsonyors, from Hungary. A total of 23 nations were represented via 2,269 samples of wines. The 105 jury members included some of the top wine journalists and writers from around the world.
