Ambulance answering call strikes and kills horse on road

Ponte Presale (Arezzo), November 15 - An ambulance answering an emergency call in a rural area near the Tuscan town of Arezzo hit and killed a horse that was in the middle of the road early Thursday morning. Rescuers, who called for another ambulance immediately following the "violent impact", said that after rounding a curve further up the road in the replacement vehicle, they barely managed to avoid striking another horse also wandering freely. Veterinary police identified the owner of the dead horse as the cousin of the man they were racing to rescue who had suffered a stroke.
