Son-in-law also under investigation for deaths in 2004

Husband, father charged in death of women after bodies found

Caserta, November 14 - Police arrested one man Wednesday for murder and hiding corpses in his home, while his son-in-law remains under investigation after two women's bodies were found in a villa north of Naples. Domenico Belmonte, 72, was arrested after the bodies of his wife Elisabetta Grande and his daughter Maria Belmonte were found in the cellar of his home. The two women disappeared in 2004. His son-in-law, Salvatore Di Maiolo, is under investigation for the same offences, police said. The two women's bodies were found Tuesday under the villa, located in the town of Castel Volturno north of Naples. Police, who began their investigations last summer, say Domenico Belmonte did not file a report of the women's disappearance, claiming they had left voluntarily. Lorenzo Grande, Elisabetta's brother, said he would "look forward to the rapid conclusion of the investigation and especially the identification of the guilty (party) of this appalling crime".
