Inflation down from 3.2% to 2.6% in October

Rome, November 13 - Italy's annual inflation rate fell from 3.2% in September to 2.6% in October, Istat said Wednesday. The fall was due to a 2.5% drop in petrol prices and the fact that October 2011 felt the effects of a 1% increase in VAT, the statistics agency said. The so-called 'trolley' of most frequently bought goods like food and fuel rose by 4%, compared to 4.7% in September. Month-to-month variations were zero, Istat said.
