Rome, November 29 - Labour Minister Giuliano Poletti said Tuesday that he was hopeful of a deal on renewed collective contracts for Italy's civil servants ahead of an important meeting with trade unions on Wednesday. "I can only express my wishes as this issue is the competence of another minister. But I believe, that when the contract conditions are right, it's a good thing to renew them and wrap them up," Poletti said. "I'm convinced that these conditions can materialise." Unions have complained the government has not allocated enough money to new civil service contracts after a long public-sector pay freeze.
