Dozens arrested in Calabria 'Ndrangheta operation

Catanzaro, November 29 - Police on Tuesday arrested 46 people including the deputy mayor of Cropani, Francesco Greco, on suspicion of mafia-related crimes as part of an operation to dismantle a clan belonging to Calabria's powerful 'Ndrangheta crime syndicate. Two people remained on the run. The suspects are accused of mafia association, extortion, illegal possession of weapons, unlawful competition and fictitious possession of property to the advantage of a criminal organisation allegedly linked to the Trapasso and Tropea families operating between the provinces of Catanzaro and Crotone. Property and companies linked to the suspects were also confiscated as part of the operation.
