Paper for publications allegedly traced to deforestation

Greenpeace activists protest at RCS Mediagroup headquarters

Milan, November 6 - Environmental activists with Greenpeace surrounded the entrance to the publisher RCS Mediagroup offices in Milan on Tuesday offering "anti-deforestation pills" in protest at the publishers' alleged use of paper made from endangered woods. According to the Greenpeace Italia website, more than 25 demonstrators dressed as tigers and paramedics asked to enter the offices, offering a "cure to their deforestation disease". Other activists scaled lamp posts and strung up a banner reading "infected with deforestation". Greenpeace activists allege that paper used by the media house comes from hardwoods found in tropical forests being devastated by logging.
