Italian premier tells Chinese leader of Italy's progress

Vientiane (Laos), November 5 - Italian reforms and healthier public finances are bearing their first fruit, making Italy more "attractive" to foreign investors, Italian Premier Mario Monti told Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Monday. Monti made the comments, citing data from various international organizations, during a bilateral meeting at the margins of the ninth Asia-Europe Summit of Heads of State and Government (ASEM9) in Laos, which is taking place on Monday and Tuesday. Wen replied that he had heard from German Chancellor Angela Merkel about Monti's contributions toward resolving the financial crisis in Italy and the European Union, Italian sources said.
