Monti thanks pope for crisis support

Rome, November 5 - Italian Premier Mario Monti has thanked Pope Benedict XVI for his "concrete" support for Italy and other countries during the euro crisis. "The pope is a citizen of the world but at this time of crisis his history as a European, between Germany, Italy and other countries, is important, concrete and active support for Italy and for a recovery of values," Monti says in a book coming out Thursday. Monti said the Italian government was seeking to "instill" this in European dialogue, "also when the economic future is mapped out. "Benedict XVI's support in our difficult task will be increasingly recognised over time," Monti says in journalist Bruno Vespa's book, The Palazzo and the Piazza.
