69 migrants rescued between Africa and Italy

Lampedusa, October 26 - The Italian coast guard took 69 migrants from a struggling dinghy in the Sicilian Channel between Africa and Italy to safety on the stepping-stone island of Lampedusa Friday. Migrant crossings form north Africa have increased lately because of a prolonged spell of good weather. The 69, who all said they were from sub-Saharan Africa, were reported to be in good health. Meanwhile 15 minors were moved from Lampedusa's migrant reception centre to youth homes around Agrigento.
